This project involved a comprehensive development of an unfinished basement into a highly functional and modern extension of the home. The renovation began with crucial infrastructure work, including breaking the concrete slab to install necessary below-grade plumbing and drainage for the new bathroom and utility connections.
The space was framed and drywalled to create a large open living area, and a stylish, dedicated storage area featuring extensive white floating shelving and a workspace counter.
The new basement bathroom is a standout feature, utilizing a dramatic black and white contrast design. It features:
- Flooring: Large format black hexagonal tile throughout the bathroom floor, continuing into the shower pan.
- Shower: Large format white marble-look porcelain tile lining the shower walls, framed by a thick black trim and featuring a built-in niche. A frameless glass door and matte black hardware complete the enclosure.
- Vanity: A modern floating vanity with a combination of wood grain and dark grey cabinet doors, paired with a black-framed mirror and matte black faucet.
The entire basement floor received a rich wood-look Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) flooring installation, complementing the sleek white walls and new recessed LED pot lighting for a bright, contemporary finish.
